BAND 1904 is a luxury fashion house born in Accra, Ghana, dedicated to honouring the extraordinary textile traditions of West Africa through garments crafted for the modern world.
Our Founding
The name BAND 1904 honours the year the Bond of 1844 — a pivotal moment in Ghanaian history — was superseded by a new chapter of sovereignty and cultural pride. We carry that legacy forward through every thread we weave.
Founded in Accra by a collective of Ghanaian designers, artisans, and entrepreneurs, BAND 1904 set out to create something the fashion world had long overlooked: a true luxury house that speaks with an unashamedly African voice, without compromise or apology.
What We Stand For
Every piece is made by skilled artisans in our Accra atelier using traditional techniques passed down through generations. We do not rush what takes time to perfect.
Kente, Kente cloth, Batik, and Adinkra symbols are not decoration — they are language. We treat them with the respect and intention they deserve.
We source our materials from within Ghana and West Africa wherever possible. Knowing where something comes from is part of knowing its value.
The Making
Our atelier sits in the heart of Accra's Airport Residential Area, where a team of over 30 skilled craftspeople — weavers, tailors, embroiderers, and finishers — bring each BAND 1904 collection to life.
We work in small batches, never at the expense of quality. From the moment a bolt of Kente cloth arrives from the Volta Region to the final stitch in our finishing department, every stage is managed in-house.
